-
1 Lemon
Overview
Home made ice cream and sorbets are so much healthier (far less fat and sugar) and tastier than the industrial ones it is seriously worth the little effort. As such preparing a sorbet is exceptionally easy and quick however it works best with a bit of equipment i.e. in the case of this apple sorbet using a slow juicer and an ice cream machine makes wonders. However don’t worry if you do not have these 2 machines, you can also use an unfiltered apple juice (ideally organic and coming from a nearby farm, else from a supermarket as most of them do sell very good apple juices nowadays) and use your freezer. By the way apples are great for losing weight, for your heart, diabetes an even cancer. Don’t we say an apple a day keeps the doctor away?

Prepare apple juiceCut 6 apples in quarters or in 8 pieces each. Throw in a slow juicer to extract the juice. Add the juice of 1/2 lemon to avoid oxydation and process with step 2 quickly (do not prepare the juice in advance as it will get brown). You can skip this step if you use unfiltered organic apple juice. |

Prepare sorbetPour the obtained apple juice (or purchased juice) in an ice cream machine and let the machine run for at least 30 minutes (check manufacturer's instructions for more precise time). If you do not use an ice cream machine pour the juice in a freezer proof container and stir every 20 minutes until you serve (it will take a couple of hours and the texture will eventually be harder than with an ice cream machine, therefore in this case do not prepare more than 2 hours in advance so that it remains soft). |
